End of Life Care & Pet Euthanasia
Your pet is a special member of the family. When their health begins to fail, it can be hard to know when it is the right time to say goodbye. At Pewaukee Veterinary Service, we’re pet parents ourselves, and we know what a difficult decision it is to say goodbye to a beloved pet. Our goal is to help you in this journey with end of life care and medical advice so you can make an informed and compassionate decision about pet euthanasia.
The Euthanasia Procedure
If you and your family decide to offer your pet a peaceful and compassionate passing, we will arrange a time for you to come to our hospital. We also offer in house cremations options, including private cremations where you will receive your pets ashes back. Our veterinarians and staff will give you as much time as you need with your pet before administering the euthanasia. We will administer a light sedative to keep your pet calm before we give them the euthanasia. When you are ready, we will inject the euthanasia. The medicine will act very quickly and your pet will feel no pain at all.
If you need recommendations for aftercare, please ask us before your pet’s final visit.
